VP & Deputy General Counsel

Chris Broadwater joined CSRS in 2022 as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. He uses extensive public and private sector experience to help guide our team on legal and governmental affairs.


Before joining CSRS, Mr. Broadwater's public service included serving as a State Representative, where he was Vice Chair of the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee. Mr. Broadwater was an active member of the Ways & Means Committee, Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, Education Committee, House Select Leadership Committee, and House Executive Committee. He also served as Vice President for Workforce Policy and General Counsel for the Louisiana Community & Technical College System, Interim Chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College, and Assistant Secretary of Labor, where he was Director of the Office of Workers Compensation.


In addition to his public sector work, Mr. Broadwater practiced law focused on labor and employment law, insurance defense, and workers compensation with Louisiana firms in Baton Rouge and Hammond, Louisiana.


He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Louisiana College, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University's Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
