Capchem Technology USA Inc., a Shenzhen Capchem Technology Co. subsidiary, is considering a $350 million investment to establish an integrated carbonate solvent and lithium-ion battery electrolyte manufacturing facility in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. The proposed facility, which would be the largest in the United States, aims to produce 200,000 tons of solvent and 100,000 tons of electrolyte annually, leveraging Capchem’s proprietary ECOSIP technology. Expected to create 95 direct jobs with an average annual salary of $71,000 and an additional 474 indirect jobs, the project underscores Louisiana’s strategic commitment to sustainability and its role as a burgeoning hub for energy innovation. Pending commercial agreements and regulatory approvals, construction could commence in 2025 and conclude by 2028, bolstered by a competitive incentives package from the state.
CSRS has played a crucial role in the early stages of Capchem Technology USA’s proposed $350 million integrated carbonate solvent and lithium-ion battery electrolyte manufacturing facility in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Our team provided comprehensive pre-development services to support this potentially groundbreaking project, which aims to be the largest facility of its kind in the United States.
Our services began with a review of the conceptual site layout, during which we provided feedback on plot usage and recommended plot plan modifications to better fit the selected location. This was provided alongside a preliminary siting study, which evaluated potential hazards on the site to identify any fatal flaws in the location or plot plan arrangement. The siting study also included a review of the plot plan to NFPA codes.
Our team also performed survey services in support of a site drainage study. The study assessed water drainage from the site and water currently flowing through the site to a local bayou. It identified significant drainage issues and provided options for managing the offsite water flowing through the planned facility site.
These services have laid a solid foundation for Capchem’s project, supporting their site development and paving the way for this significant investment in Louisiana’s growing sustainable energy sector. Our work demonstrates CSRS’ expertise in handling complex industrial projects and our commitment to fostering economic development while prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility.
