ARPA Funding Opportunities Summary

The COVID-19 pandemic has made the past year extremely trying and difficult, but at CSRS, we believe there is reason to be optimistic about the future.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is the next major step in our nation’s economic and physical recovery from the pandemic and presents an unparalleled opportunity for communities to implement a resilient recovery.

Signed into law on March 11, 2021, the bill funds much more than vaccinations and economic relief for individuals, families and businesses. It sends funding directly to state and local governments and to key sectors that have been hit hard by the pandemic, including educational institutions, daycares, public transit authorities, and others.

ARPA is more than a lifeline to agencies that have struggled with lost revenue during the pandemic, many of the funding sources are flexible enough to creatively address longstanding challenges and prepare for the ways the pandemic has transformed our economy and our lives.

For communities also impacted recently by hurricanes, floods, or other disasters, aligning these resources with other federal recovery funds, to support a dual recovery, is even more critical.
